B3 Ben Award for Steve McQueen

After Laurie Anderson (2013), Brian Eno (2015) and 2017 Jonas Mekas, this year's British artist, photographer and director Steve McQueen receives the BEN main B3 Biennial of the Moving Image Award in the "Most Influential Moving Image Artist" category. The B3 recognizes McQueen’s impact on the development of the moving image as both a successful cinema director and a video & photo artist. "Like our previous winners, Steve McQueen is an artist who works across borders and genres," says Prof. Bernd Kracke, Artistic Director of B3, explaining the choice. Steve McQueen is a British Turner Prize winning artist and filmmaker. His film 12 Years A Slave received numerous prizes, including three Oscars, among them the Best Film Award.
