Nico Weber

"5 MEDITATIONS ON DEATH" by Nico Weber can be seen at the B3 Leading Exhibition.

sein.Nico Weber (*1967 in the northern Black Forest) is a filmmaker, author and producer. Her essayistic films for film and television raise philosophical questions, addressing above all the challenge of the supposedly "unfilmable".

Weber studied philosophy, political science and literature. For more than 20 years, her films for the public broadcasters ARD, ZDF, arte, 3sat, ORF and SRF have used idiosyncratic film language and pushed boundaries – thematically, dramaturgically and visually.

Recently, the artist has positioned herself at the intersection of film and fine arts. Her company NOW COLLECTIVE works with renowned directors of photography and editors. They shoot throughout Europe, Asia and the USA.

Weber is the recipient of several film awards. In 2012 her documentary film series for ZDF/arte "Gegenangriff. Wirtschaft im Fadenkreuz der Kunst" received the Golden Viktoria at the International Business Film Festival in Vienna. Her film about the poet Oswald Egger received the television prize LiteraVision in Munich in 2018. In 2019 she was nominated for the Grimme Prize for the 3sat Kulturzeit production "bauhausfrauen".
