Marlis Roth

*1964

Marlis Roth is Professor for Artistic Editing/Nonlinear Forms at Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. She developed Site-Specific-Film as a model for exploring open forms and approaches to film. The model has been used in several collaborative projects.

In the research field Site Specific Film headed by Professor Marlis Roth at Filmuniversität Babelsberg, 10 to 20 young filmmakers are asked to respond individually to a previously selected site. The architecture of the site determines possible projection surfaces and shapes. The site’s history and concrete use serve as relevant parameters, while the political discourse attached to the site and its atmosphere are equally important.
