Erika Harrsch

*1970

Born in Mexico City and based in New York City, Harrsch has been defined as a multidisciplinary artist, employing traditional mediums along with new media. The formal aspects of her oeuvre investigate diverse fields to achieve visual, multi-sensory, and interactive experiences: a reflection about gender, identity, nationality, and the space that defines us, the limits and vertiginous freedom that lead to a continuous corporeal and ideological migration.

‘Under the same sky... we dream’, reflects on the rights to move freely beyond borders, the consequences of unregulated migration, the detention centers for un-documented minors at the Mexico / USA border and the Dream-Act legislation of the immigration reform. This video and sound installation shows a time-lapse video of the sky at the El Paso, TX and Juarez, Mexico border together with Magos Herrera’s evocative musical rendition of the DREAM Act.
